Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN)
The likes of late Pa Oladele, late Pa Adeola, Alhaji Isiaka Alade Martins, Pa J. B. Otapo, Pa Bode Olaleye, Pa F. A. G. Abimbola and a few others conceived the idea of formation of an association to take care of the welfare of those early professionals responsible for vehicle maintenance in Ebute-Metta area of Lagos in 1968.
However, the Nigerian Civil War delayed the registration of the association; duly named Nigeria Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association (NMMTA). It was later registered in 1968.
More members later joined the association and sooner than later; crisis crept in; and Nigeria Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association (NMMTA) split into Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Surulere Motor Mechanics Association (SLMMA); which later transformed to Automobile Technicians Association of Lagos State (ATALS), and Lagos State Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association (LASMMTA); which was registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on 12th February, 1986.
In the year 2006, Automobile Technicians Association of Lagos State (ATALS) and Lagos State Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association (LASMMTA) collaborated to form Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN).
Currently, Comrade S. A. Oseni is the National President of Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN); which is visible in some states of the country and which is complimenting governments’ efforts at improving the Nigeria Automotive Industry.
